It’s Friday’s Peanut Butter Fanmail Time!

Roarockit writes: “Aloha, How are your reviews coming along on our deck kits? Are you having fun with it? If you are having any problems feel free to let us know as it is a project for us that is in transition and may need refinement to work properly. Your input will be helpful. We are really interested in how you are going to present the review on your site as most of your viewers have not liked our idea. This is ok as it helps us with how to market our idea and who is interested in purchasing it. I have to say it again guys hope you don’t beat us up to much in your review. -Ted”

Dear Ted: We don’t seem to be your target demographic.

Ban Lube Oil and Wax

Jamar Taylor (16) has such a good idea for all the dumb asses in his town. A man after our own heart. “Refugio Valley Park is “street-oriented,” “a place where the community can play and do their activities,” Taylor said, adding that skateboarding is a means of self-expression that thrives in public view. He urged the council to pass an ordinance banning oil and wax, but not skateboards.” The fact that this actually warrants so much discussion in Jamar’s town sux.

Bolted Kerbs

We can’t be sure if the dude in the photo is the anonymous kerb bolter fuck or not. We are sure that we wouldn’t waste our time on that piece of shit curb. That little nut wouldn’t stop us anyway. To the citizens of the town, if your dumb ass trips over that backwoods attempt of a skatestopper, you deserve to lay there and be laughed at. A curb/kerb does sound good about now though.

Globe Update

“The head offices of Kubic and Globe are being amalgamated in California, with some of the cost savings from the staff reduction being redirected to sales and marketing.” …”Net profit slumped to just $159,000 in the first half from $7.7 million a year earlier after the company was hit by a slowdown in the skating goods market and a shift by young shoppers to lower-priced value brands in footwear.” Thanks Andy Mac.

Sunglasses and Shit

Were you wondering why we track Oakley’s stock? It’s because they tend to promote contests like the “Boost Mobile Pro of Skate Presented by Oakley.” It is almost certain that these companies have no idea what they are in for. Gather a bunch of corporate-goldcard-carrying pro skateboarders together and let them “compete” in Vegas?! That has to be the best way to test the commitment of these sponsors. Another invitational event. This info was found somewhere at Slap Magazine.

Artsy Fartsy Kate Moss France Shit

While we are on the topic of skateboarding events, We’d like to point you back to a bit of news on an event that was sponsored by Etnies. Surface 2 Air landed in the Skate/News section of Etnies web a while back. Rather than read the article, it got skimmed and dismissed as some art thing that a skater must have been involved in like This Is Me 2002. Wrong! Surface 2 Air seems to have no skateboarding relevance at all. What gives? With all the contests going to shit these days it’s no wonder why people were seemingly bored at this years Tampa Pro contest. Where’s the mayhem? Get off this Mountain Dew Bullshit and help bring the Grassroots contests back.

World’s Best Skateboarder?

An invitation only event of some sorts is about to go down in Lake Elsinore on March 29th and 30th. Let’s assume the invited don’t throw the invitation away and let’s assume that a few actually show up. By who’s authority will the winner be crowned? Looks Hokey. Just give the trophy to Gonz and see if he throws it into the crowd. We can only imagine what downhill costumes will surface. Get plenty of trashcans out for the Tall-Boy festival of the year.

Dear Globe,

The Gravedigger 2 graphics are so on point today. A corporate takeover has sent employees at Dwindle and World out of their tree-houses, into cubicals and finally out the door. Seems like it was all planned. An article last week pointed out that “Acting chief executive Michael Sonand is adamant the market is still growing, but at a slower rate. … He wants Kubic to have a full year under Globe ownership before it is placed under the valuation microscope.” Damn, that was one quick year! Corporate takeovers Suck.

What Is This World Coming To?

“Who can believe that skateboarding has reached the mainstream of our culture? I have never seen so many black-tie-evening-gown-clad individuals clamoring to get a picture or an autograph. Everyone, including me, kept saying, “My kids will be so excited.” What is the world coming to?” That’s right kooks. The world is all fucked up. Bow.
