Acceptance?

“These days, not only is skateboarding not a crime, it’s getting an official stamp of approval from local churches and governments that believe it offers positive recreation and keeps youngsters from more devious activities.” A lot of people knock Florida for being backwoods and shit. Did you ever think we would get a “stamp of approval” ?? Skatenerd also brought the SkatePlaza to our attention. Can Dyrdek pull off a no-pads spot?

Variflex and World Industries

If you remember purchasing that first Variflex board at K-mart and then realizing it was time to step-up and get a Powell-Peralta or a Vision board from a real skateshop… Your whole thought process has now been flipped completely upside-down. Variflex announced that it has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with World Industries. “We are tremendously excited to be working with what is undoubtedly the most recognized name in the extreme sports industry,” Losi stated. “This exclusive licensing agreement should allow us to leverage World Industries’ loyal core customer base and to introduce the excitement of World Industries to a much wider audience with such products as skateboards, helmets, protective pads and body boards. We are already working with them to develop even more exciting product lines for introduction over the next two years,” - Jay Losi. This announcement goes great with the first run of ALMOST graphics. This whole story has too much shit to print. World Industries… Rest In Peace. Messman, Shubin, Valerio… We feel for the entire crew of heads that got lost in this fucking Globe shuffle. Mike Sonand from Globe states… “Once the decision was made to broaden our penetration in America, the decision to partner with Variflex, a leading supplier of extreme sport products to the mass market, was easy.” Fuck it all.

The Skateboard Mag

We’re so amped about the possibilties of the new magazine “The Skateboard Mag”. So Sux went and took care of some business over the weekend. We have no ulterior motives and we stand behind the fresh new start of a magazine. We also want to thank Matt at VistaSeeker. You are due for the Keepin’ it Real section as soon as the next update comes. Everyone go to a friend’s house that hasn’t skateboarded in a while and take them to a new spot. Sometimes it’s all they need.

We’re Not Lovin’ It

McDonald’s? Put that money in the right spot boss. Like… Cement over a golf course somewhere and hire a bunch of strippers to cater to all the skaters that need to go ‘golfin’. Fuck that’s money well spent. The worst corporation ever to be let in the door is finally here. “The partnership with professional skateboarder Tony Hawk is a prime example of how McDonald’s is using pop culture icons to make its brand more relevant to today’s consumers.”
